What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition?

Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) is an emerging field and body of work that bridges the gap between clinical nutrition and functional medicine. The work focuses on restoring normal function within the main pillars of health: the hormonal, digestive, immune and detoxification systems.

This is a two step process. The first part of FDN uses functional lab work to identify underlying causes and conditions that lead to health complaints. The second part of the process works with the bio individuality of the person to support the bodies innate mechanisms for healing in a holistic manner.

How do I work?

Using in depth intakes and functional laboratory work, we work to  identify  blocking factors and malfunctions at the subclinical level within the hormone, immune, digestive, detoxification  and intestinal barrier system.

The information from the labs,  health history and FDN coaching sessions help guide natural therapies including diet and other lifestyle changes such as targeted nutritional supplementation, exercise and stress reduction strategies.

With commitment from the client, and continuous course corrections, this method can help restore health by lessoning the body burden, while enhancing nutritional support to rebuild or strengthen the body systems.

My focal point when working with clients revolves around working with the gut. As a foundational system I believe healing is intrinsically tied to the G.I. system and when you heal the gut, you are able to effect all the other systems of the body. I also look to support brain health, hormones and detoxification systems.
